Lead, Driver

VISTAR, a leading wholesale distributor of food and beverages serving vending, retail, theater, concessions, hospitality, and coffee service customers across the U.S., is seeking a Lead Driver to join our Transportation & Logistics team. In this role, you will combine safe, efficient driving with hands-on leadership to ensure that our customers receive accurate, on-time deliveries and exceptional service. As a Lead Driver, you will operate company vehicles to deliver a wide range of food and beverage products to established customer locations along assigned routes. You will verify orders during loading and unloading, handle documentation and proof-of-delivery, and act as the primary point of contact at each stop, representing VISTAR with professionalism and a strong customer-service mindset. You will be responsible for conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, following all DOT and company safety regulations, and promptly reporting any vehicle or route issues. In addition to route responsibilities, you will provide on-the-road leadership to a small group of drivers. You will help coordinate daily dispatch activities, support route planning and load verification, and serve as a resource for resolving basic delivery or customer issues in the field. You will help train and mentor new or less-experienced drivers on safe driving practices, delivery procedures, paperwork, and customer service standards, fostering the collaborative and dynamic culture that defines VISTAR.
