About This Role
This role puts you at the center of Arizona's highway maintenance operations, managing fuel and equipment deliveries across the state while keeping critical infrastructure moving. You'll operate tractor trailers and specialized equipment to transport supplies to field locations and shops, coordinate with stakeholders to determine delivery priorities, and handle the hands-on work that keeps maintenance operations running smoothly. When you're not behind the wheel, you'll perform preventive maintenance, complete pre-trip inspections, load and unload cargo, and tackle miscellaneous maintenance tasks around the work area. This is a position for experienced CDL operators who can work independently, take initiative to solve problems, and aren't afraid of physical labor. Supervise, coordinate and transport equipment and supplies using tractor trailer and accessories. Operate roadway maintenance equipment and perform preventive maintenance and manual labor tasks during routine and emergency response operations. How you will contribute: Delivery of Fuel, Equipment or Supplies: Schedule and make deliveries to field locations and equipment shops. Communicate with stakeholders to determine most effective delivery method. Equipment Operation: Operate a tractor trailer combination or wrecker truck for transporting various materials, automobiles and equipment. Load and unload trucks. Complete and maintain all required documentation regarding movement of equipment and supplies. Manual Labor: Perform manual labor and other maintenance tasks as needed for project completion. Complete assigned work as instructed in established time frames. Miscellaneous Duties: Perform miscellaneous duties around work area when not delivering or picking up equipment and supplies. Preventative Maintenance: Perform maintenance repair, replacement, and preventative maintenance. Complete pre-trip inspections for any vehicle or equipment operated. Schedule equipment operations: Prioritize equipment movement needs to meet customer expectations. Plan and schedule work assignments and make adjustments to ensure timely delivery of equipment. What will make you successful: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to gather data and prepare reports. Ability to lead and train others. Ability to obtain valid CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment. Skill in the use of hand and power tools used in repair of equipment. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to gather data and prepare reports. Ability to lead and train others. Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter.
